Project Bronze Forever Heatran in Igneus Depths

Harvest Badge, HM8 Rock Climb around the lava pool, and a one-chance Fire/Steel legendary at the bottom.

Last updated:

Catch Heatran

Heatran is the Fire/Steel legendary locked at the bottom of Igneus Depths, the extended lava spiral under Mt. Igneus. You do not fight it during the gym-2 Eclipse raid, and you do not cook a stew to open its cave. You beat Fluoruma, put HM8 Rock Climb on a party Pokemon, climb around the lava pool on Route 6, and walk a long descending path until Heatran is sitting on molten rock. Click it. It roars. The battle starts. One chance.

This page follows the official Heatran video. Watch the mid-article clip for the exact Rock Climb wall. The text is the badge, HM, and catch rules: Harvest Badge, Rock Climb, Dusk Balls, save, autosave off. Play the live copy from the official play page. Copies of this Roblox RPG get re-uploaded; progress is designed to persist, but you still confirm the current place on game status and Discord before you burn a one-chance legendary.

Treat this hunt like Volcanion and the Regis, not like a starter you can pick twice. There is one Heatran. If it faints or the timer dies on a misclick, that save file does not get another. Pack Dusk Balls because you are underground in a volcano. Buy them in the Poke Ball Emporium in Anthian Shopping District before you fly to Brimber.

Harvest Badge and HM8 Rock Climb

Rock Climb is locked until gym 6. Fissy in Fluoruma City is Grass-type and awards the Harvest Badge plus the HM. If you cannot climb walls, you are not missing a hidden NPC in Brimber — you are missing Fissy and the gym walkthrough. Finish Getting Started and the eight-gym road until Harvest is on the Trainer Card.

Put Rock Climb on a Pokemon that stays in the party. Boxing the climber at the lava wall is how people stall. You do not need Surf for Heatran. You do not need a Tropics ticket. You do need Fly from gym 4 (Stephen, Soaring Badge) if you want to skip the walk back from Fluoruma. Controls lists the HM order: Cut, Fly, Rock Smash, Rock Climb, Surf.

Codes unlock after gym 1. Redeem them with how to redeem before the Depths if you need cash for balls. Codes do not spawn Heatran. Expired strings belong in the expired archive, not in this cave.

Route 6, Mt. Igneus, and the lava pool

Fly to Brimber City. Take Route 6 and the left path to the Mt. Igneus entrance — the same volcano that holds Sebastian’s Fire gym. Inside, walk up the path to the first right turn. That wall is the Rock Climb shortcut around the lava pool. Hiker Darrel’s rematch sits nearby; he is a trainer, not the legendary. Beat him or walk past him. The wall is the point.

Climb. Walk the ledge around the lava. Enter the cave door on the far side. That door is Igneus Depths, not the Steam Chamber and not the summit crater. If the wall will not climb, Harvest is missing or the HM is in the PC.

The lava pool is the gym-2 scenery people remember. Rock Climb is what bypasses it after Fluoruma. You already beat Sebastian to live in Brimber; this return trip is a post-Harvest detour, not a second Fire gym.

Igneus Depths spiral

Igneus Depths is spirals down to molten lava with a lava-fall in the middle of the loops. Wild Fire types live here at higher levels than the gym-2 mountain. Repel if you are here for Heatran, not for Magmar. Follow the long descending path. Do not jump the lava-fall. At the lowest platform, Heatran waits at the end of that path.

On the left before the encounter, a Magmarizer can sit as a side pickup for a Magmar trade evolution. Take it or leave it. It is not required for the legendary.

Stop on the platform. Save in Options. Turn autosave off. Then click Heatran. It gives a loud roar and the battle starts. If you click first and save during the roar, you have already spent the one chance on that file.

One chance, balls, and Fire/Steel

Heatran is Fire/Steel, typically around level 40 in this set encounter. Fire/Steel is 4x weak to Ground and 2x weak to Water and Fighting. Steel also makes it immune to Poison. Read the type chart before you lead a Ground sweeper into a catch you cannot afford to KO. False Swipe or a chip move belongs on the lead. Status that does not knock it out is allowed. A KO is a dead hunt.

Dusk Balls get the cave modifier. Timer Balls help if the fight goes long. Ultra Balls are a backup, not the plan. Do not spam Great Balls from Route 1. Do not point auto-catch at a one-chance legendary; read script safety first. If the catch fails, leave without saving only if autosave was already off, then rejoin.

This is not Groudon. Groudon is the summit crater / Team Eclipse Red Orb story beat around Brimber, not the Depths spiral. Eclipse stealing the Red Orb from Sebastian’s care is why gym 2 felt long. That orb is not a Heatran key. This is also not Volcanion. Volcanion is Fire/Water under Brimber’s giant rock after Epineshroom stew. Different door, different stew, different typing.

Do not mix this cave with Rotom in Fortulose Manor or Victini in Aredia Ruins. Heatran does not roam like the legendary birds and does not need a Port Decca ticket. It is not Ho-Oh on Cragonos Peak.

After the catch

Turn autosave back on in Brimber Centre. Fire/Steel is a special wall that laughs at Ice and Fairy and still dies to Earthquake. Check the type chart before you lead it into Fissy’s Grass gym (Grass is resisted) or Zeek’s Dark gym (Dark is neutral). The tier list will argue about Heatran as a special tank later. Catching it is the only ranking that matters on this save.

Watch event updates for shiny or rerun rumors instead of assuming a weekly respawn. This revival is a full game with eight gyms and one Heatran platform at the bottom of one volcano.

FAQ

Frequently Asked Questions

Quick answers trainers actually search for.

What do I need before I can reach Heatran?

The Harvest Badge from Fissy (gym 6) and HM8 Rock Climb on a party Pokemon. Fly to Brimber, take Route 6 into Mt. Igneus, and climb the wall at the first right.

Is Heatran the same hunt as Groudon or Volcanion?

No. Groudon is the summit crater / Team Eclipse Red Orb story. Volcanion is Fire/Water under Brimber's rock after Epineshroom stew. Heatran is Fire/Steel at the bottom of Igneus Depths.

Which balls should I throw at Heatran?

Dusk Balls in the underground volcano. Buy them in Anthian Shopping District, save on the lowest platform, and turn autosave off. Timer Balls if the fight goes long.

What is Heatran weak to?

Fire/Steel is 4x weak to Ground and 2x weak to Water and Fighting. Check the type chart before you lead a catch move that can KO it.

Can I catch Heatran more than once?

No. It is a one-chance set encounter. If the battle ends without a catch, that file is done. Leave without saving only if autosave was already off.
